يبين هذا الكتاب أن أكثر المسلمين اليوم منصرفون إلى تحليل الإسلام وتقويم واقع المسلمين, من خلال الأعمال والأقوال الظاهرة وحدها. وإنما هذه الأعمال و الأقوال أدوار فوقية من البناء الإسلامي, لا تقوى وتثبت إلا اعتماداً على ذلك الجزء الخفي المتواضع من البناء الذي يسمى: الأساس. ومستقر هذا الأساس هو القلب. فكيف يستقر فيه أساس البناء الإسلامي؟ وكيف يتم الاتصال بينه وبين الأدوار الفوقية لذلك البناء, بحيث يضمن المسلمون ألا تطيرها الرياح, ولا تعصف بها الزعازع. ولا تقوضها قوى الطغيان والشهوات؟ لذلك فإن مهمة هذا الكتاب, هي الإجابة على هذه الأسئلة, والكشف عن سبل الاتصال بين الحياة الإسلامية في باطن القلب, والحياة الإسلامية على ظاهر الأعضاء.
