عنيت هذه الدراسة لمعالجة ظهور القصة القصيرة ومراحل نموّها عبر البحث في مجموعة مفاصل مهمّة منها:
أولاً: الهويّة والشّروط الفنيّة (الحجم والشكل).
-الأسس الموضوعيّة التي توجّه الأنظار إلى منابعها وأصولها الأدبيّة.
-المؤثرات الفاعلة في دفعها وإخراجها مكتملة وناضجة فنياً، حيث انصبّ الإهتمام على دور الترجمة والإطلاع على كتّاب القصة القصيرة الغربيّة.
ثانياً: البحث في نتاج عشرين قاصاً من لبنان، تمثّل أعمالهم المرحلة الأكثر أهميّة في مسيرة هذا الفن الأدبيّ الصعب، وتركّز على المستويين: الموضوعات أولاً، والفن ثانياً، بعد دراسةٍ داخليةٍ لشخصيةِ القاصِّ وإنعكاساتها على النصوص، وتأثرها بالبيئة والمحيط والأحداث، وهي بذلك تمثل عشرين دراسة لهؤلاء المبدعين.
ثالثاً: دراسة تطوّر القصّة القصيرة في لبنان، مع التركيز على توزّع الأعلام على المدارس الفنيّة التي انتهجوها، كالواقعيّة بأقسامها المتعدّدة والرّمزية وغيرها...
وفي تقديري أن المكتبة اللبنانية خصوصاً، والعربيّة عموماً، هما في أمسّ الحاجة إلى هذا الموضوع، لأن نقّادنا تناولوا الأعلام المشهورين في هذا الميدان، وأغفلوا المغمورين.
