هذا الكتاب دليل على أن علماء الإسلام وفقهاءهم لم يكونوا بعيدين عن واقع الحياة وعما يجري حولهم, إذ كان الواحد منهم يكتب بالفقه الى جانب التاريخ والفلك والطب واللغة, ذلك لأنهم فهموا أن الإسلام هو دين الحياة. وهو دين الدنيا والآخرة. وصحيح أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم جاء هادياً ومعلماً وبشيراً ونذيراً, ولكنه جاء أيضاً طبيباً للأرواح والأجساد والقلوب, ومنقذاً للبشرية من كافة أمراضها المعنوية والمادية. والطب النبوي يمتاز بأنه طب وقائي قبل أن يكون طباً دوائياً, أمر بالنظافة الظاهرة والباطنة واعتنى أبلغ العناية بنظافة القلب والوجدان والضمير. وهذا الكتاب يبين الكثير مما ورد عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في هذا المجال والأدوية النبوية التي كان يحرص عليها ويعلمها لأمته. فجدير بكل مسلم أن يطلع على هذا الجانب من العلم, جانب الطب النبوي ليكون دائماً في أحسن حال من الشفاء في الصدر والنقاء للقلب والسمو للروح والقوة للبدن, وهذا من أسمى آيات الطب النفسي والروحي.
ابن قيم الجوزية: هو محمد بن أبي بكر بن أيوب بن سعد بن حريز الزرعي- نسبة الى بلدة إزرع في سورية, ثم الدمشقي- نسبة الى سكنه في دمشق- أبو عبد الله شمس الدين. ولد في السابع من صفر سنة إحدى وتسعين وستمائة من الهجرة النبوية الشريفة. تتلمذ على أكابر مشايخ عصره, فقد كانت عقيدته صافية لم يشبها أدنى تعكير, كما كان باحثاً دؤوباً, أخذ من كل علم وهضم جميع الثقافات التي ازدهرت في عصره ببلاد الشام ومصر. أهم مؤلفاته: حادي الأرواح الى بلاد الأفراح, تحفة المودود في أحكام المولود, وغيرها, توفي ليلة الخميس الثالث عشر من شهر رجب سنة إحدى وخمسين وسبعمائة من الهجرة النبوية الشريفة.
