يستخدم الموال الشعري في الغناء التراثي الشعبي البحريني ، وتتنوع ألوانه ، فمن البحري إلى الحدّادي ، فالعدساني ، ثم الحساوي فالمخولفي ، وكل هذه الألوان تعتمد على شعر الموال الغنائي وإن اختلفت الألحان والإيقاعات .
وفي هذه المجموعة نقرأ العديد من القصائد الغنائية الخاصة بالمحرّق ، كتبها الشاعر عقيل سوار لتأتي نثيثٍ من العواطف والمشاعر الوجدانية المبثوثة الصادرة عن ذات شاعرة محبة للوطن وأهله " أنا يا محرق أنفاسي ، تموت بْلاك / أنا يا محرق أنفاسي من الحياك / من صبخة سمادوه ومن عذب ماياك / نسجت الكلمة بعد الكلمة ، أترَيّاك ... " . أما الشعر الغزلي فيتجسد في قصيدة " مكاكة ماءٍ رقراق في نهرٍ أو كمرآة تعكس أسرار القلب ، قلب الشاعر / الإنسان الذي يدين بمذهب العشق الروحي المرتبط بجوهر النفس البشرية ، وكيف لا والشعر هو نفس الشاعر ونفسه في آن . فالشاعر يتولّه الحب ، ويتوجع من النأي ، ويشتهي الوصل ، ويترقب اللقاء ، ويبكي الفراق ، ويستأنس بالقرب . فجاءت القصيدة بمصابة ترجمان لانفعالات كل عاشق وكشف لمخبوءات الروح ، ومكنونات النفس في لحظة صفاء .. يقول الشاعر " ... هذي قصة عاشقٍ ... / تمَنّه قبل يومه ، يعيش ! / إسمه عاصي ! / واعتشق ذات الحسن / مروة ، أجمل ما رأت عين / بمنامٍ أو وَسَنْ ! / كنْها بقلبه وعلى الطوفه ، رسم / بس من خوفه / وكلام الناس / سماها حسن ! ( ... ) " .
يضم الكتاب قصائداً غنائية في الشعر البحريني جاءت باللهجة المحلية نذكر من العناوين : " أنفاس محرقية " ، " بنت السيد " ، " مكاكة عشق " ، " هنا البحرين " ، " أزمة وتمر " .
