"آخر إنذار" مجموعة قصصية جديدة للكاتبة الكويتية عائشة عدنان المحمود تتسم بإيحائية تعبيرية ساخرة عبَّرت عنها لغة سردية ذات قيمة اجتماعية، اتكئت على أفكار واعية، واستدعت حالات إنسانية شتى، فردية تارة ومجتمعية تارة أخرى، لا تخلو من ألم ولا تتسع لفرح.
تتألف المجموعة "آخر إنذار" من أربعة عشر قصة قصيرة، عمدت خلالها الكاتبة إلى تأسيس القصص على أعمدة من الاستهلالات النصية لكبار الأدباء العرب والأجانب البارزين في العالم، أمثال ابراهيم نصر الله وغادة السمان وجوناثان سويفت وغابرييل غارسيا ماركيز وآخرون. في نزعة واضحة لكتابة النص عبر استدعاء الموروث الأدبي والفلسفي الإنساني في مؤشراته النصية إلى داخل القص وإثقاله بمحمولات الفن والفكر والأدب في أعمق مستوياتها الجمالية والدلالية، بدت فيها عائشة عدنان المحمود ذاتاً أنثوية ممتلئة فناً وإبداعاً ورغبة جامحة للكتابة الجديدة. من هنا ضرورة وأهمية قراءة قصص المجموعة في مستوياتها الدلالية، وفي مكوناتها الداخلية، لاستكناه عوالم الكاتبة الآسرة المتعددة والمتنوعة والطريفة.
من المجموعة وتحت عنوان "أحاديث قاعات الرخام" تقول الكاتبة:
"مُذْ كنت صغيرة، وفي رأسي المكسو بشعيرات سود، تنبت تساؤلات بيض، تساؤلات عن الميزات التي تملكها البيوت حديثة التصميم. كنت أقول لنفسي ورأسي يشتعل بالحيرة والتردد:
تُراها مساحات الرخام المغرية بالانزلاق التي تسمح للعبارات بالانفتاح بعضها على بعض، تاركة للحروف حرية التدفّق بلا حواجز؟
أم أنها الجدران التي تسمح للرغبة السريّة المخبوءة في الجوانح باستراق السمع للتعرف إلى أوجاع الآخرين وقصصهم المغلّفة بالريبة، والمنثورة بذرات الغموض؟
لم أصل إلى جواب لتلك الأسئلة! وظل الأمر بالنسبة إليّ كخيال كرة معلقة بين أرضٍ وسماء!...".
