إن الحنين والألم في الشعر الأندلسي هما اللون الأبرز من ألوان ثوب الشعر الأندلسي البديع والرقيق، يشكل لحمة هذا الشعر وسداته، والوقوع عليه كثير أيما كثرة، وهذا ملحوظ ومشتهر ومستوعب عند الباحثين المعاصرين، ولكنه على مساحته لم يحظ بالقدر الكافي من العناية، ولم يولج بعد من الباب الواسع والجامع لما يمكن جمعه.
ولم يبحث في موضوع الحنين والألم المتعلقين بالشعر الأندلسي بحثاً مستقلاً - على ما تناهى إلى - لا في الدراسات الحديثة، ولا في مصادر اشعار الأندلسيين التي اعتمدها المؤلف في أطروحته هذه مثل: جذوة المقتبس للحميدي، والذخيرة لابن بسام، والقلائد والمطمح لابن خاقان، والمعجب للمراكشي، والمغرب والمقتطف لابن سعيد، والعقد لابن عبد ربه، والحلة السيراء لابن الأبار، والنفح وأزهار الرياض للمقري، ودار الطراز لابن سناء الملك، وغيرها.
كل ذلك ساهم في إغناء أطروحته، وإعطائها أهمية في ميادين الدراسات الأدبية في هذا المنحى، حيث جمع فيها كثيراً مما تناثر في كتب الأدب والشعر من الحنين والألم.
