والرسالتان قديمتان الأولى منهما ترجع إلى القرن الثالث قبل الميلاد أما الثانية فإنها ترجع إلى القرن الأول الميلادي، وقد ترجم نقلة بيت الحكمة العباسي هاتين الرسالتين مخالفتهما الأصلية إلى اللغة العربية.
والإبداع في هذا الكتاب هو أن العلماء العرب والمترجمين السريان العرب في بيت الحكمة العباسي قد أدوا عملاً بارعاً في حفظ هذا العلم من الضياع.
إنه يمثل إسهام الأجداد العرب في إخراج هذه الرسائل النادرة وإيصال علومها إلى أجيالنا لإستلهام أحد جوانب النتاج الإنساني الحضاري.
