ويناقش المؤلف أسباب تقارب العولمة والتحرر المالي من الإستعمار، ومدى مناسبة ذلك للإستعمار، كما يناقش الكتاب أسباب إستحالة عمل البنوك الإسلامية ضمن النظام النقدي الحالي بصورة مستقلة عن معدلات الفائدة أو الربا المحرم.
ومع كون الكتاب نشر عام 2004، وذلك قبل حدوث الأزمة الإقتصادية بأربع سنوات، إلا أنه أدرك جانباً من خلل النظام النقدي العالمي وحذر من أثاره السلبية خاصة على الدول والمجتمعات الناشئة والمسلمة، والتي ظهرت تبعاتها بإفلاس دول ومصارف وشركات مالية عملاقة في عام 2008.
يطرح الكتاب مناقشة مهمة حول إمكانية إستخدام الدينار الذهبي في تسوية الميزان التجاري الثنائي والمتعدد الأطراف، كما يوضح جملة من المزايا المتعددة للدينار الذهبي والتي منها تفوقه بإعتباره أداة للتحوط لإدارة مخاطر الصرف الأجنبي مقارنة بالأدوات المشتقة الأخرى.
