هذه الرواية لا تنادي بتحرير المرأة وإنما تُصور مشاعر العنف والعداء والضيق التي تنتاب النساء، وترسم تلك المشاعر على الورق لتضعها بين أيدي القراء غير أنه من الواضح أن ما تفكر فيه كثيرات ويشعرن به ويعايشنه قد يصيب غيرهن بدهشة بالغة، فقد أشهر كثيرون في وجهي أسلحة قديمة للغاية، جاءت على رأسها كالعادة اتهامي بأنني "غير أنثوية" وأنني "كارهة للرجال" ورد فعل كهذا يعد أمراً أزلياً فالرجال وكثير من النساء كانوا يرون أن النساء اللاتي نادين بحق المرأة في الإقتراع كن غير أنثويات وأميل إلى الذكورة والوحشية
