خديجة بنت خويلد، طاهرة الجاهلية أولى زوجات النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وأقربهن إلى نفسه، سيدة نساء العالمين القرشية الأسدية، وهي ممن كَمُل من النساء، كانت عاقلة جليلة، دينة مصونة كريمة، كانت أوسط نساء قريش نسباً، وأعظمهن شرفاً، وأكثرهن مالاً، وأحرصهن على التزام جانب الأمانة، والاحتفاظ بسياج العفة والكرامة، أولاها قدمها–لهذه الصفات–من نفوسهم مكانة أي مكانة، وتبوؤها بينهم مرتبة عظيمة. هذه صورة مجملة عن شخصية خديجة ومكانتها، ولكن لا بد لهذه الشخصية من جذور اجتماعية كانت تعيشها. فهل كانت مثل كل نساء قريش في الجاهلية أم هي نسيج آخر من النساء حتى قيل فيها إنها ممن كمل من النساء. هذا ما يحاول المؤلف استجلاء تفاصيله في هذا الكتاب.
