يعد هذا البحث نواة لمعجم دلالي خاص بالسرقة والسرّاق، إذ تناثرت الألفاظ التي تتعلق بهما في معاجم المعاني والألفاظ، مكتسية في سيرها التاريخي معاني فرعية، ترتبط بالمعنى الأصلي بوشيجة "الاشتقاق". استطعنا في طائفة كبيرة أن نظهر العلائق الدلالية بينها، لتبرز صورة السرقة والسرّاق دقيقة بدلالاتها، كاملة بعناصرها ومستلزماتها، مما يدل على ثراء اللغة العربية بالميادين الدلالية المتعددة المحتاجة إلى درس وتصنيف، وذيلنا هذه الدراسة بعرض أمثال العرب في السرقة والسرّاق، لتضيف إلى الدلالة المعجمية دلالة اجتماعية رائعة.
وقد قسمنا الألفاظ التي جمعناها من المعجمات العربية إلى:
1-ألفاظ مشهورة حاولنا الربط فيها بين المعنى الأساس للفظة، والمعاني المتفرعة عنها.
2-ألفاظ غير مشتهرة، ويمكن استخدامها للدلالة على السرقة في سياق كلامي قد يختاره المتكلم.
ثم دلفنا إلى السرّاق ونعوتهم، وقسمناها إلى:
1-ألفاظ تصور حالة السارق قبل إقدامه على السرقة.
2-نعوت تطلق على السارق العام.
3-نعوت تطلق على السارق المختص بسرقة نوع معين.
4-نعوت تطلق على السارق مع صفة ذميمة أخرى.
5-ألفاظ تطلق على المسروقات.
وختمنا ذلك بما ذكرته كتب الأمثال من أمثال تضمنت أشهر السراق، وخلصنا من ذلك كله إلى عدد من المعالم الدلالية للسرقة والسراق. ونتحسب أنها تفيد في التأليف المعجمي خاصة، والدرس اللغوي الحديث عامة.
