وجدت نفسي فجأة في جوفها مع فتاة فائقة الجمال وشديدة الذكاء وكأنني القزم الحكيم ألفيس الذي وقع في غرام الجميلة ثرود وتقدم لخطبتها من أبيها إله الرعد، ثور الذي عارض في البداية إرتباط ابنته بقزم وضيع وقبيح مثلي، لكنه في النهاية وافق بعد أن اشترط عليّ الإجابة على عدة أسئلة لأنال مباركته النهائية.
كانت أسئلة ثور تعجيزية ومحكمة وفي آخرها خدعة، إلا أنني تمكنت من الإجابة عليها بعد أن طفت بتسعة عوالم مختلفة لكنني، ويا للأسف، لم أتمكن من تجاوز خدعة الإله الماكر والمخادع الذي كان قد اشترط أيضاً أن أهرع بحثاً عن الإجابة مع أول خيط من خيوط النهار وأن أعود بها قبل آخر خيط من خيوط الليل وإلا تحولت لحجر.
وهكذا وجدت نفسي أجري أمام الشمس وخلف الليل حتى لا أتحول لحجر.
تُرى هل سأتمكن من تجاوز الخدعة أم أن مصيري سيكون مصير ألفيس نفسه الذي ظل يجري أمام الشمس وخلف الليل إلى الأبد؟...
