هناك دراسات عن قصّة "حي بن يقظان" كتبت بالعربيّة وبلغات أوروبيّة، في هذا الكتاب نجدّ النّصّ الكامل للقصّة كما كتبها إبن طفيل. إنّ مطالعة النّص سهلة وواضحة، فقد وضع المعلّق في بداية الفقرات موجزا لها حتّى يتمكّن القارىء من أن يتتبّع بسهولة القصّة خطوة خطوة، ويلاحظ كيف يتقدّم إبن طفيل بقصّته بطريقة متماسكة ومنطقيّة، كما أنّ أقسام القصّة الكبرى مفصّلة عن بعضها البعض، وذلك تيسيرا للمطالعة. ويشير إبن طفيل في قصّته إلى أنّ ولادة حيّ تخضع لرأيين الأوّّّل التّولّد الذّاتي، والثّاني أنّه إبن أميرة، وقد نقل إلى جزيرة ليس فيها إنسان وتكفّلت بتربيته ظبية، ويتّضح أنّ حي قد أدرك بواسطة مجهوده العقلي، الحقائق الأساسيّة من معرفة العلّة الأولى للعالم ووجود النّفس وروحانيّتها وخلودها وسعادتها، ممّا يتّفق وباطن الشّرع.
