يدير مجتمعات هذه الأرض في عصرنا الراهن، ويسيّر شؤون حياتها حكام يتكئون على دساتير لأنظمة تتوزعها أربع من المدارس الفكرية والعقيدية، وهي: الإسلام، الليبرالية، الاشتراكية، وآخر مزيج من كل هذه. الثلاثة الأخيرة من الأنظمة والمدارس التي لا يقرّ لقوانيها ودساتيرها قرار، متغيرة متبدلة، ومعدلة مرات ومرات. هذا وإن من منظور أصحاب المدارس الثلاث، وأنظمتهم الوضعية، يبدو الإسلام صامداً، ودستوره متخلفاً، أن أن المسلمين لا يزالون موغلين في غياهب التخلف والبداوة، إذ لا يعقل، كما يعتقدون، أن يبقى نص أنزل أو وضع من قرون بعيدة، على حاله، والشؤون البشرية تدار من خلاله، والمعقول عندهم بالطبع، أن مجاراة الحضارة والتقدم، واللحاق بركب التطور، إنما يكونان بتبدل النصوص تبعاً لتبدل الأزمان والأحوال، ارتكازاً على مبدأ الغاية تبرر الوسيلة، لا على مبدأ تكافؤ الأساليب شرفاً مع الغايات، وهذا ما هو ديدنهم وسيستمرون عليه تباعاً. فأين وجه الحقيقة؟ كيف يمكن تفسير هذا الاعتقاد أو الوهم استناداً إلى الإسلام، وهل صحيح أن الغرب سبقنا إلى كل مصطلح ذي سمة تقدمية، أم أننا سبقناه إلى الكثير منها؟ هذا كله ما سيدور الحديث عنه في صفحات هذا الكتاب.
