لقد جرت مشيئة الله بحادث الأشياء من خلف أحوال إرادته، وأسباب علله هو ما فسره المصنف في كتابه هذا شيء بشيء وعلة بعلة منها من مثل معرفة ابتداء الخليقة وأول شيء خلقه الله في معرفة علل الأظلة والأشباح والأرواح وكيف أدبهم وعرّفهم بنفسه، في معرفة الأدوار والأكوار والتراكيب الناسونية، في معرفة عصيان الخلق وعلله وكيف نسوا ما ذكروا به، في معرفة بعث الرسل إلى الخلق في معرفة إبليس ومن أي شيء خلقه، في معرفة الأبالسة وكيف صاروا شياطين، في معرفة إذا جئنا من كل أمة بشهيد وجئنا بك على هؤلاء شهيدا، وهكذا...
وقد عدّ المصنف حوالي السبع والستون مسألة جاءت ضمن أبواب الكتاب الست والسبعون. وقد جاء تأويلها التي دوّنها مما جاء عن أئمة أهل البيت عليهم السلام الثقاة من أقاويل في هذا العلم المخصوص الذي هو علم التأويل فكل الأمور لها ظاهرة يعرفه العموم وباطن يدركه الخاصة من العلماء. وهذه الأقوال هي المنصوص عليها فيما رواه هؤلاء العلماء عن السلف الماضي من رواة علم الباطن.
