يدور موضع الكتاب حول حكم الشرع في إحياء (المواسم) الإحتفالات الدينية و (المراسم) العاشورائية في محاولة للتأكيد أن استعادة واستيحاء العبر منها، هي طريقة من أفضل طرق التربية عموماً والتربية القرآنية خصوصاً. ويؤكد على ذلك المؤلف بالآية القرآنية التي وردت في قضية الإطعام التي خلدها القرآن الكريم بقوله: "ويطعمون الطعام على حبه مسكيناً ويتيماً وأسيراً إنما نطعمكم لوجه الله لا نريد منكم جزاءً ولا شكوراً". وفي هذا السلوك الفطري لا يحتاج المرء إلى دفع شرعي فهو يشكل حالة طبيعية ومصداقاً لأوامر الله. ولهذا يسوق مؤلف الكتاب الأدلة الواضحة من القرآن وتاريخ أهل بيت النبوة ويرد بها على المخالفين في هذه المسألة "مع الإشارة إلى بعض موارد الخلل والضعف في تلكم الأقاويل" مع التأكيد أن الهدف من وراء ذلك "هو خدمة الحق والدين، والذبّ عن شريعة سيد المرسلين .. وعلى أن تقوى الله سبحانه، والخوف من عقابه (...) يهيمن على كل أقوالنا وأفعالنا، بل وعلى حياتنا ووجودنا".
وفي الكتاب أيضاً قبسات من الإحتفال بالمولد النبوي في جميع الأقطار الإسلامية، ومشاهد من مناسك الحد للذكرى، ونقاش حول أدلة القائلين بحرمة الإحتفالات والأعياد واعتبارها بدعة؛ وعن السُّنة السيئة. "من سنّ سنّة حسنة كان له أجرها وأجر من عمل بها"، والفرق بين العبادة والتعظيم (...) وموضوعات أخرى ذات صلة.
