السيد عبد الله بن محمد رضا بن محمد آل شُبّر (1188 هـ - 1242 هـ). هو رجل دين ومُحدّث ومتكلم ومُفسّر شيعي عراقي مُتَوفّى وعاش في أواخر القرن الثاني عشر الهجري والنصف الأول من القرن الثالث عشر. وهو محل توثيق عند عدد من رجاليي الشيعة ومُحدّثيهم، ومنهم: عباس القمي،(1) وعبد النبي الكاظمي.(2)
بعد وفاة محسن الأعرجي سنة 1227 هـ، ثُمّ وفاة المرجع جعفر كاشف الغطاء سنة 1228 هـ؛ فقد توجه الشيعة في العراق نحو عبد الله شبّر وبدأت شهرته تتسع أكثر فأكثر حتى صار مرجعاً وكان عمره حينئذٍ 43 عاماً. كان ينعت بـالمجلسي الثاني.

عن عباية بن ربعي قال: إن شاباً من الأنصار كان يأتي عبد الله بن عباس، وكان عبد الله يكرمه ويدنيه، فقيل له: إنك تكرم هذا الشاب وتدنيه وهو شاب سوء، يأتي القبور فينبشها بالليالي. فقال عبد الله بن عباس: إذا كان ذلك فأعلموني. قال: فخرج الشاب في بعض الليالي يتخلل القبور فأعلم عبد الله بن عباس بذلك، فخرج لينظر ما يكون من أمره ووقف ناحية ينظر إليه من حيث لا يراه الشاب، قال: فدخل قبراً قد حفر، ثم اضطجع في اللحد ونادى بأعلى صوته: يا ويحي إذا دخلت لحدي وحدي، ونطقت الأرض من تحتي فقالت: لا مرحباً بك ولا أهلاً قد كنت أبغضك وأنت على ظهري فكيف وقد صرت في بطني، بل ويحي إذا نظرت إلى الأنبياء وقوفاً والملائكة صفوفاً، فمن عدلك غداً من يخلصني، ومن المظلومين من يستنقذني، ومن عذاب النار من يجيرني، عصيت من ليس بأهل أن يعصى، عاهدت ربي مرة بعد أخرى فلم يجد عندي صدقاً ولا وفاءاً. وجعل يردد هذا الكلام ويبكي. فلما خرج من القبر التزمه ابن عباس وعانقه ثم قال له: نعم النباش، نعم النباش، نعم النباش. ما أنبشك للذنوب والخطايا ثم تفرقاً".
هذا حديث من أحاديث كثيرة جاءت في هذا الكتاب والذي هو عبارة عن رسالة شريفة مشتملة على فوائد منيفة، تذكر الغافلين، وتوقظ النائمين، تتضمن ما يؤول إليه حال الإنسان من الموت وما بعده إلى الجنة والنار، حسبما ورد من ألآثار والأخبار عند الأئمة الأطهار عليهم السلام، مع بيانات وجيزة وافية ومواعظ بليغة شافية.
