في هذا الكتاب، يحدد الأستاذ علي هاشم طلاب الزيرجاوي مفهوم الخطاب بوصفه دراسة مكتوبة يمكن إيصالها بلفظة أو تركيب أو نص هو في المراتب العليا من الإرسال (الخطاب)، والاخر المتكوّن الجديد من الأنساق اللغوية والتراثية والثقافية والتقانات الحديثة بوصفها ممثلات ومثيرات وقيم تسهم في تشكّل الخطاب وإظهار الآخر المتشكّل الجديد.
ولأن تقييم الخطاب ودراسته وتحديد مفاهيمه وعلاقته بالآخر تقتضي حصر الدراسة في مرحلة شعرية معنية، اختار المؤلف مرحلة السبعينيات لعرض الخطاب وإيصال محدداته وفك شيفراته، وصيغ إنتاجه وتقاناته المنسجمة أو المختلفة مع الأجيال الأخرى، والمرتبطة أصلاً (بالذات / اللغة) أو (القارىْ / المتلقي). لذلك عني البحث بالجيل السبعيني "شعراء التأسيس لتلك الحقبة الزمنية، ونتاجهم الشعري المتوافر إلى يومنا هذا، والإفادة المتحققة من التقانات الجديدة التي أسهمت في بلورة الخطاب وصيرورته" فكان البحث عبر فصول الدراسة يتمحور حول علاقة المنجز بالخطاب والذات والآخر، مع عودة إلى الأصل اللغوي الكبير (القرآن الكريم)، مع الإعتناء بدراسة اللفظ والتركيب والقص القرآني والخطاب الإعجازي والآخر، مروراً بتوظيف الأسطورة والعودة إلى التراث بوصفهما وحدات ثقافية تواصلية، مع التأكيد على ما يمثله "وجود الذات واللسان وهذا ما يتفق وفينومينولوجيا (هيدجرودريدا) التي تؤمن بأن اللغة حدث موضوعي تسبق الذات والوجود" (...) وقراءات أخرى ذات صلة.
