بين يدينا صحائف تحمل شيئاً من سيرة الصحابي العظيم "المقداد بن عمرو" أحد الأركان الأربعة وأحد السابقين، كما تحمل في الوقت نفسه شيئاً من تأريخ الفترة المشرقة التي عاشها والتي أعطى فيها فكره وعرقه ودمه ما يعطيه العظماء لأممهم وأمجادهم وتواريخهم، حيث كان له شرف المشاركة في تأسيس وتثبيت دعائم الإسلام وهو بعد في نأنأته وضعفه.
لقد امتاز هذا الصحابي العظيم بصفة تفرد بها دون من سواه من الصحابة تلك هي صفة "الفروسية" وهي صفة غير عزيزة ولا نادرة لولا أنها كانت لظروف صعبة حرجة، فهي مبتذلة إذا لوحظت مجردة عنها، وعزيزة نادرة ذات بال وأهمية إذا لوحظت من خلال الظروف الصعبة التي عاناها المسلمون الأوائل؛ ومن هنا جاءت أهميتها فقد شاءت المقادير أن تقع أول حرب بين المسلمين ومناهضيهم من المشركين وليس في المسلمين غير المقداد بن عمرو، وبذلك نال وسام "أول فارس في الإسلام" ناله بجدارة واستحقاق، وظلت هذه الصفة المميزة ملازمة له طيلة حياته، فما دعي إلى جهاد قط إلا وأجاب، وقد شهد المشاهد كلها مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كما شهدها من بعده وهكذا، قضى عمره فارساً في ميادين الجهاد حتى وافاه أجله، وكانت العقيدة بالنسبة له، خبزه اليومي الذي به ومن أجله يعيش.
من هنا، فإن تاريخ المقداد، يعني تاريخ تلك الحقبة وما جرى فيها من "الوقائع والحروب" نظراً لموقعه منها ومواقفه البطولية فيها، وهذا ما دعا الباحث إلى سرد بعضها في كتابه هذا سرداً كاملاً، لكي يتفهم القارئ هذا الرجل على حقيقته، وأيضاً لكي يكشف عن أهم جوانب حياته التي تتحدد بها شخصيته وطموحه وأهدافه، أما بدون ذلك فإن سيرته تصبح مبتورة شوهاء لا رونق فيها ولا حياة، وأنت حين تبدأ قراءة المقداد، فإنك ستقرأ أكثر بكثير من قراءتك لأي من معاصريه من خلال قراءتك لتلك "الغزوات والوقائع" وسوف تشعر وكأنك معه في رحلاته الجهادية الطويلة وهو يملي عليك حكاية أروع ملحمة حضارية في تاريخ الإنسان كان هو أحد روادها ومسطريها، وبذلك أيضاً سوف تدرك عظمته ومدى بلائه في الإسلام.
