هذا الكتاب هو من تأليف الأستاذين الجامعيين في كلية الحقوق والعلوم السياسية في الجامعة اللبنانية، الدكتور سليم الضاهر، والدكتور محمد طي، بعنوان "حقوق الطفل في المسيحية والإسلام والأمم المتحدة بالمقارنة مع اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الطفل". وكانا قد قدما البحث في إطار عمل أكاديمي، بدعوة من منظمة للطفولة "يونيسف" في بيروت عام 1996. وترتدي هذه الدراسة أهمية مزدوجة، إن لجهة تعريف القارئ بموقف الديانات المساوية (المسيحية والإسلام) من هذه الحقوق والتعليق على ما ورد فيها من تعاليم مؤيدة وداعمة لها، وإن في تحديد أطر ومدى تطبيقها ولتشرح بأسلوب واضح ومفصل الأمور التي يعاني منها الطفل في العالم بغض النظر عن انتمائه الديني أو الإقليمي أو العرفي أو السياسي للحصول على حقوقه في مختلف نواحي حياته، الأمر الذي يعكس بالمقابل التقصير الرسمي لأسباب غير مبررة.
هذا ولم يكتف الباحثان بعرض وضعي لجذور حقوق الإنسان بل اعتمد المنهج العلمي الموضوعي الهادي والرصين، فألقيا الضوء الناقد على جوانب من شأنها أن تحفز الإيمان والفكر، تخطياً لأنماط جامدة من السلوك والتقاليد، في كل من الثقافتين المسيحية والإسلامية، باتجاه جوهر الرسالتين في صفاتهما التوحيدي الخاص، بما فيه من قيم روحية وإنسانية تشكل إرثاً حضارياً يوقف ما بين الشريعتين: الطبيعية القائمة على مبدأ العقل من جهة والإلهية القائمة على مبدأ الإيمان والوحي من جهة أخرى.
