تأتي أهمية البحث في العلم بالتجريم من أهمية الركن المعنوي في الجريمة الذي ينتمي إليه العلم بوصفه أحد عناصر القصد، كما إنه يمثل صورة العلاقة النفسية في الخطأ سواء تمثل في التوقع أو إمكان التوقع.
فالإجابة عن هذه التساؤلات وما تمثله من أهمية في الدراسات القانونية هي التي دفعت المؤلف وبرغبة ملحة للبحث في هذا الموضوع ولا سيما ما يتعلق بالعلم بالقانون في معنى النص التجريمي، والإختلاف في مدى تطلبه حقيقة أم إفتراضاً، وقد اقتضى هذا البحث أن يُقسم على أربعة فصول هي كما يأتي: الفصل الأول: العلم والركن المعنوي للجريمة، فيه تحديد موضع العلم من الركن المعنوي، عن طريق تحديد ماهية الركن المعنوي وصورتيه: القصد والخطأ.
أما الفصل الثاني: ماهية العلم، وفيه يوضح المؤلف مفهوم العلم ومدلوله ومصادره وعناصره وطبيعته، الفصل الثالث: العلم بالقانون الجزائي وتناول فيه المؤلف تحديد الإتجاهات أو المذاهب المختلفة حول العلم بالقانون، الفصل الرابع: العلم بالوقائع المجرمة، وسوف يشمل ذلك بحث العلم في جميع الوقائع التي تدخل في بناء الجريمة وبضمنها الأنموذج القانوني لها.
