ولا في تحليله للعلاقة المتشابكة ما بين الشرق والغرب من خلال عرضه للمفاهيم المرتبطة بـ"الحرب المقدسة" في السياقين المسيحي والإسلامي، أيضاً. ولكن في كونه أنموذجاً معبراً عن تلك الدراسات "العلمية" التي تقوم برسم صورة العربي والمسلم خاصة، والآخر عموماً، في البنية المعرفية الغربية، إنه عمل جديد يتابع فيه المترجم ما بدأه بالعمل الهام لإدوارد سعيد "تغطية الإسلام" وتتابع فيه الدار سلسلتها "غرب وشرق".
