سيجد القارئ الكريم في أسئلة اللحظة الراهنة أطروحات لقرن جديد مزجاً متعمداً بين المقالة والبحث بين المعلومة والتحليل بين الثقافة والسياسة بمعناهما الواسع. إنها أصداء مشحونة بالهم الوطني والقومي بالهواجس والمخاوف المشروعة على الهوية والأمة والأجيال ولكنها تلفت انتباه النخبة المثقفة وأصحاب القرار والمسؤولية إلى أفكار ومخططات واستراتيجيات ومشاريع مطروحة في الدوائر والمصادر المتخصصة فلعلنا نبلغ من وراء ذلك كله الغاية الأساسية لهذه المجموعة من المقالات ألا وهي إيقاظ النائمين وفتح الأعين والبصائر وبعث القيم وشحذ العزائم وتقوية الإرادة وتنمية الفكر العقلاني وتجديد الإيمان بالأمة وأصالتها وحشد الطاقات لتغيير الواقع المختلف وصولاًُ إلى نهضة حضارية قومية شاملة.
وقد قسم المؤلف الكتاب إلى ثلاثة أبواب؛ ومن أبرز ما جاء في الباب الأول: هو ضرورة الاختلاف وأهمية التنوع صورة المثقف بين الوعي والممارسة، الكلمة المسؤولية، الحاجة إلى الحوار، بين نموذجين من الفكر، المثقفون والمجتمع بين الافتراق والتلاحم، التحديث في أبعاده الاجتماعية، ماهية المجتمع المدني، مقولة المجتمع المدني خارج سياقها. وفي الباب الثاني: في حوار الحضارات وتصادمها أطروحات وأطروحات مضادة، صدام الحضارات أطروحة نظرية أم توجهات استراتيجية، من الانفعال إلى التفاعل الحضاري، وصية قسطنطين زريق آخر عمالقة الفكر القومي، الثقافة العربية ودورها القومي، كيف نلج حضارة العصر. وفي الباب الثالث والأخير: تحت وطأة ثلاثة آلاف سنة من العنصرية قراءات في المشروع الصهيوني، وعد بلفور بداية المأساة، عزمي بشارة يحاكم العنصرية الصهيونية، قتلة الأنبياء والأطفال، عشاق إسرائيل المتهودون، أبعاد أخرى للمعركة مع الصهيونية، أكذوبة صهيونية اسمها قوى السلام، من يشوع بن نون إلى باراك وخصومه، قضايانا العادلة والرأي العام العالمي، هواجس وأسئلة مصيرية.
