تتعلق التكعيبية بتيار الفن الكلاسيكي لإحتمالها بعض عناصره: السكونية، الميل إلى التعميم، العقلانية، التناغم الإيقاعي في التأليف، غياب النور والظل أو أدق: تساوي العلاقات العازلة بين النور والظل.
وهذا الرابط مع الفن الكلاسيكي، يثيره ميتزنغر في "مجلة الحياة الفنية"، "نقل الطبيعة بما فيها من جوهري أساسي، دليل جمالية متفوقة على نقلها في تفاصيلها العارضة، وهذا جزء من المسألة.
فالتكعيبية المتطورة، ستركز لا على الجسم من خارج، بل على مجموع الأشكال والألوان الذي يشكل اللوحة، والتكعيبية تنظم هذا المجموع وتجعله متناسقاً، وهذا الرسم الذي لا يدعي سوى كونه رسماً، يتخطى ما يعطى حوله من تفسيرات، ويفصله عن الرسم التقليدي خيط دقيق، فجميع الكلاسيكيين الحقيقيين يحققون رؤيا داخلية تقليدية، وفق مشيئة كلاسيكية بحتة".
ومن هذا المنطلق، تناول المؤلف موضوع الفن التكعيبي في سبعة فصول توزعت على الشكل التالي: الفصل الأول: "ماهي التكعيبية؟"، الفصل الثاني: "روّاد التكعيبية"، الفصل الثالث: "التكعيبية في تواريخها الرئيسية"، الفصل الرابع: "خالقا التكعيبية: بابلوبيكاسو - جورج براك"، الفصل الخامس: "العارضون في الصالة 41"، الفصل السادس: "إتساع التكعيبية"، الفصل السابع: "الحركات التابعة للتكعيبية".
