ليس هدف هذا الكتاب ذكر الأحكام والآداب المتعلقة بالجهاد الإسلامي مما هو مذكور في كتب الفقه إنما الهدف إضافة إلى ذلك التركيز على النقاط التالية: جمع وتفسير الآيات القرآنية ذات الصلة بهذا الموضوع ووضعها أمام القارئ في بلاد الإسلام والإغتراب ليكون على معرفة بحقيقة الجهاد المشروع وكذلك التعرف بطائفة من قواعد وأصول الدين في هذا المجال؛ توضيح العلاقة بين الجهاد ومبدأ حرية الإعتقاد؛ إبراز حقيقة الجهاد الذي شرعه الله تعالى مما قادَ بعض الدوائر المعادية لهذا الدين التي تحاول دائماً التعتيم على الوجه المضيء للجهاد وإبراز صور مشوهة لتلصقها به وهو منها بريء.
وهناك بعض الأمور التي لا بد من الإشارة إليها في هذا السياق؛ الآراء والإجتهادات الواردة في هذا الكتاب هي لكبار العلماء والمفسرين والتي بدى لي بأنها أقرب للمنطق والعقل وتعاليم هذا الدين الإسلامي الحنيف.
إن واضع هذا الكتاب رجل مستقل لا ينتمي إلى أي جهة سياسية أو إجتماعية أو دينية وهو على مسافة واحدة من جميع رجال الدين والعلم وينظر إليهم جميعاً بين التقدير والإحترام؛ لقد اعتمد في هذا الكتاب على الآيات القرآنية ذات الصلة وتفسيرها من أمهات كتب التفسير وما ورد فيها من أحاديث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، لذلك كان المسلمون الأوائل يتسابقون إلى الجهاد.
