لقد مضى على وضع "المدخل إلى اللغة العربية" قيد التداول أكثر من عشرين سنة. وقد أدخلت التعديلات والتحسينات على مضمون الكتاب والإخراج على مر السنين. وقد رأينا أن نحدث اليوم قفز نوعية في صلب المضمون توخياً لزيادة الفائدة مع التطورات التي جدت في الآونة الأخيرة. بناءاً على ملاحظات بعض المربيات في لبنان والدول العربية جرت تعديل بعض الكلمات والصور وإضافة نصوص في صلب الكتاب وآخره وهي بمثابة مراجعة عامة وتعزيز للحروف التي تعرف إليها الأطفال من خلال السنة الدراسية.
يعتمد الكتاب على الطريقة الصوتية في التعرف إلى الحروف الألفبائية ويتدرج في ذلك من الحروف السهلة اللفظ إلى الصعبة، كذلك يراعي المباعدة بين الحروف المتشابهة شكلاً وذلك بهدف إعطاء الوقت للطفل حتى يتعلم الحرف ويخزنه في ذاكرته قبل الانتقال إلى الحرف المشابه له، وقد أكّدت جميع المعلمات اللواتي يستخدمن هذا الكتاب نجاح استراتيجية المباعدة بين الحروف المتشابهة شكلاً ولفظاً.
كما نود أن نشير هنا إلى أن جميع الدراسات والأبحاث حول طرق تعلُّم الأطفال للقراءة وتؤكد حاجة الطفل إلى التمكن من الحروف والمقاطع لينطلق إلى القراءة السريعة.
كذلك يعتمد الكتاب على الطريقة الكلية في الصفحة التي تقدم صوراً وكلمات تبدأ بالحرف المستهدف، ويكتسب من خلالها الطفل مفردات عربية لإغناء مخزونه اللغوي.
كما ويحتوي كتاب دليل المعلم على مجموعة كبيرة من الأنشطة التي تسهل على المعلمة تقديم الأحرف بطريقة محببة ومشوقة تعتمد أساساً على اللعب.
من أبرز التعديلات التي خضع لها الكتاب، إضافة صفحة في آخر كل درس، الهدف منها التعلم منخلال التسلي.
اللغة العربية أو لغة الضاد ليست حكراً على الكبار، وليست بعيدة عن متناول أطفالنا كما يشاع. ابتعادهم عنها أو تقربهم منها، تقع مسؤوليتهما علينا. هدفنا من خلال هذا الكتاب أن تصبح اللغة العربية أداة يستعملها الطفل في حديثه، لعبه، تعبيره عن نفسه وجعلها قريبة منه كي يستفي منها ما يخلو له.
