وفي هذا الكتاب تحدثت المؤلفة "سلمى الكزبري" عن سيرة حياة هذه الأديبة النابغة لتوضع ما التبس في أذهان الناس منها، وإظهار ما خفي عنها، وإنصافها، ولتكون سيرتها قدوة للأجيال، تستمد منها العزيمة على الكفاح والتعزية في الحياة لأن الرواد، ومي منهم بلا ريب، بشر مثلنا يضحكون ويبكون، يصيبون ويخطئون، ولكنهم يبذلون النفس والنفيس في سبيل المثال العليا التي يؤمنون بها.
لذلك، قدمت المؤلفة ما تنامى إليها من معلومات ووثائق ومخطوطات تتصل بمي زيادة وأدبها ورسائلها معتمدة على الكتب والرسائل والمقالات التي نشرت عن ميّ في حياتها وآثارها، كما اعتمدت على الرسائل المخطوطة من مي إلى أعلام عصرها التي توضح ملامح شخصية مي وقد سبق وأصدرت كتاب يضم هذه المخطوطات بعنوان "مي زيادة وأعلام عصرها"، وقد ألحقت هذه السيرة "صفحات مطوية من أدب مي" ومقالة وجدانية بعنوان "موعد مع الأقدار".
