يعنى هذا الكتاب بالصحة النفسية للطفل لما لها من أثر كبير على مراحل حياته المختلفة وذلك من خلال التعريف بمفهوم الصحة النفسية وتطور الاهتمام بها وبميادينها المختلفة وذلك كله ضمن الوحدة الأولى أما في الوحدة الثانية فقد ناقش الكتاب مفهوم التكيف وعناصره وأشكاله والعوامل الأساسية فيه ، لينتقل بعدها للحديث عن مفهوم الشخصية وخصائصها ومكوناتها ونظريات السمات في الشخصية وذلك كله ضمن الوحدة الثالثة،وفي الوحدة الرابعة التي جاءت بعنوان ( السلوك التنظيمي والسلوك الشاذ) تطرق الكتاب إلى السلوك السوي والشاذ وعلاقة الشذوذ بالصحة النفسية، ثم تناول بعدها في الوحدات من الخامسة وحتى العاشرة،الشعور ومشكلات الحياة النفسية وطرق التكيف، مبينا بعض مشكلات الصحة النفسية مثل الذهان والفصام وغيرها من المشاكل،تمهيدا لوضع الحلول اللازمة لها من خلال توضيح أساليب معالجة الاضطرابات النفسية عند الأطفال ، لينتهي بعده إلى دور المجتمع في مجال الرعاية النفسية.
