يضم هذا الكتاب بين طياته كتابين الأول جاء تحت عنوان "موطأ الإمام مالك" وهو يعد من أقدم كتب السنة وأصحها، ويتميز بكون جامعه اماما" مجتهدا"، وبقصر الأسانيد، وبإثبات الإمام مالك لفتاويه وفتاوى السلف بعد الأحاديث، وبالبلاغات، وقد رتبه على الأبواب الفقهية . وقد سمعه منه خلق كثير ومن اشهر رواياته رواية يحيى الليثي جاء فيها 1843 حديثا" عدا فتاوى الإمام مالك التي طالت في هذه الرواية، والبلاغات .
أما الكتاب الثاني فجاء تحت عنوان "كتاب إسعاف المبطأ برجال الموطأ وهو من إعداد الإمام السيوطي وفيه يتكلم على رجال أسانيد الإمام مالك في الموطأ جرحاً وتعديلاً بحسب حروف المعجم.
