لا ريب أن المفاهيم والمصطلحات تشكل نسقاً متكاملاً، بحيث أن كل مفهوم جزئي يستدعي الآخر ليشكلا منظومة متكاملة. وإن انتزاع مفهوم من نسق حضاري مغاير يؤدي إلى عدم التكامل على المستوى المفهومي، مما يؤدي إلى غياب النسق النظري المتكامل. لذلك فإن الفهم العميق لمجمل الظواهر الفكرية والاجتماعية والسياسية، ضرورة إنسانية وحضارية، لكشف هذه الظواهر، ومعرفة آليات عملها، ومسار حركتها وتأثيرها، وبدون هذا الفهم العميق، لا يستطيع المرء اللحاق بركب الأحداث، فضلاً عن التأثير فيها، واكتشاف ميكانيكية حركتها. وتحديد المعنى العلمي والتاريخي للمفاهيم والمصطلحات، يعدّ وسيلة فعّالة لتخطي حجب السذاجة والبساطة، التي قد تلفنا تجاه حركة الظواهر الاجتماعية، ومن أجل فقه الراهن للمشاركة في صياغته، ولكي نعود إلى الحياة، ونصنع مستقبلنا بإرادتنا.
والكتاب الذي بين أيدينا "العنف والإرهاب والجهاد".. قراءة في المصطلحات والمفاهيم والذي هو من إعداد الباحث بشير البحراني لا يخرج عن هذا السياق إذ استطاع مؤلفه أن يحدد المعاني الاصطلحية للمصطلحات الثلاثة العنف والإرهاب والجهاد ويربطها بمنظومة القيم العامة. ويزيل الكثير من الالتباسات التاريخية والسياسية عن هذه المفاهيم في المجال الإسلامي المعاصر. كما ويسعى إلى إيضاح هدف الجهاد الإسلامي وأسبابه، وفي المقابل يعرف بكلمة الإرهاب. وذلك وفق معيار المجتمع الدولي الحديث؛ كما ويكشف عن الأفعال التي تعد إرهابية، مشيراً ومؤكداً على أن الكيان الإسرائيلي هو بطل المجازر والإرهاب بلا منازع وذلك بعد تقصية لتاريخه الأسود في هذا المجال. وأخيراً يرد على سؤال يعدّ اليوم من أهم الأسئلة المطروحة على الساحة السياسية وهو: ما هي العلاقة بين كل من العنف والشرع وهل يؤيد الشرع الإسلامي العنف؟ كما ورد على عدد من الأسئلة الأخرى والتي تدور حول محور الإرهاب والعنف والجهاد.
