الكتاب في الرواية العربية وعن الرؤية المستقبلية فيها، وذا موضوع واسع فضفاض غير أن المؤلف قصره على غسان كنفاني وعبد الرحمن منيف نموذجاً فجاء الكتاب وفقاً لهذا في مبحثين اثنين: "الرؤية المستقبلية في أدب غسان كنفاني الروائي" و"الشخصية وبناء النهاية المفتوحة في أدب عبد الرحمن منيف"، وقد كانا، كما يذكر المؤلف نفسه، بحثين ألقيا في مؤتمرين علميين: الأول عام 1989، والآخر عام 1992 وقد نشر عام 1997.
قد يظن القارئ أن المبحثين متباينان، وليس الأمر كذلك. فالمؤلف ليس حديث عهد بالكتابة في الرواية التي أسهم فيها بموضوع جمع فيه بين غسان كنفاني وجبرا إبراهيم جبرا عنوانه "فلسطين في الأدب الروائي بين غسان كنفاني وجبرا إبراهيم جبرا هو الذي نال به درجة الماجستير من جامعة بغداد عام 1988.
