ويعد الكتاب ثمرة من ثمرات مشروع بحثي للمعهد العالمي للفكر الإسلامي، هو مشروع المفاهيم، ويتضمن الكتاب مبحثين: الأول مدخل لقضية المفاهيم والمصطلحات والاصطلاح مع التطبيق على شرح مصطلح القياس، والثاني الدراسة التطبيقية وكيف صيغ تعريف مصطلح القياس بطريقة تدل على تشابك العلم في منظومة متكاملة، وكيف تضمن هذا التعرف أركان القياس ومذهب المعرف تجاه تلك الأركان وشروطها، وتميزه بذلك عن المدارس الأخرى وهو ما ينبغي أن يستحضره القاتلون بالتغيير أو التجديد في العلوم الشريعة وأصول الفقه خاصة.
