تقدَّم الدار للرأي العام النسخة التي حصلت عليها كمساهمة في التعرّف على داخل شبه الجزيرة العربية وعلى المناطق الكردية الأرمنية التي لم يزرها سوى عدد قليل جداً من الأوروبيين، والتي تحظى في الوقت الحاضر بإهتمام خاص، وعلى أمل أنَّ الوصف المفعم بالحيوية والجذَّاب إلى أبعد الحدود والمطابق للواقع والغني بالعبر والأحداث المثيرة، والذي كتبه المؤلف الذي فارق الحياة مبكراً، سيثير إهتمام القارئ إلى أقصى درجة.
"ولد إدوارد فون نولده في 16 أبريل / نيسان 1849م في مزرعة كلِّيتن في كورلاند (ليتوانيا)، تلقَّى دروسه الأولى على يد معلِّم بارع خاص، ثمَّ انتقل بعد ذلك وعمره 16 سنة إلى المدرسة الثانوية بمدينة ريغا.
بعد ثلاث سنوات ترك نولده المدرسة، بعد أن كان قد انتقل إلى بريما وعاش في السنتين اللاحقتين تارة عند إخوته، وتارة أُخرى عند أبيه في برلين، أو عند أُمّه في ميتان، وفي سنة 1870م التحق بكتيبة الفرسان الرماحين للحراسة الشخصية التي كان مقرها في وارسو، لكنَّه ما لبث أن غادرها بعد سنة ونصف.
في سنة 1877م انتقل نولده إلى أمريكا الجنوبية وحارب سنة كاملة إلى جانب التشيليين في الحرب التي اندلعت بين التشيلي والبيرو، وعن طريق ريو دي جانيرو وسان فرانسيسكو عاد في أواخر خريف سنة 1878م إلى بطرسبرغ.
في سنة 1888م سافر نولده إلى إسطنبول، لكنَّه ما لبث أن عاد ثمَّ سافر مرَّة أُخرى مع ابن عمِّه البارون لك، إلى تركيا.
