"وعود المستقبل" للباحث "ألفن توفلر" كتاب يضم بين طياته دراسة جاءت موزعة إلى قسمين. في القسم الأول الذي يحمل "توقّعات"، يعرض توفلر آخر تصوراته في ما يتعلق بالمشكلات الراهنة: الأزمة الاقتصادية، مستقبل العمل والبطالة، الأساطير حول اليابان، والاستراتيجية التي تلجأ إليها بلدان أخرى لمواجهة انهيار المجتمع الصناعي. ويعالج الآفاق المفتوحة أمام الرأسمالية والاشتراكية، وينكب على دراسة الأدوار الجديدة التي ستقوم بها النساء والمجموعات الأقلية في مجتمع الغد التي هي في طور النشوء واتخاذ شكلها بسرعة.
أما في القسم الثاني "المنطلقات" فاتبع الباحث منهجاً مختلفاً تماماً وشخصي أكثر. ولكي يساعد القارئ على تكوين رأي حول المسلمات التي تكون النظرة التوفلرية إلى العالم، يبدأ بفصل بيوغرافي -ما هي التجارب الماضية التي ساهمت في تكوين المفاهيم المناقضة للأرثوذكسية التي يرتكز عليها الآن توفّلر؟ تتبعها لمحة تاريخية حول "المستقبلية" التي يعقبها تحليل دقيق لطرق عمله ككاتب: كيف ينظم بحوثه؟ كيف يقدم خلاصة الأفكار والمعلومات المتباينة وصولاً إلى كل متكامل بنيوياً؟ فعلى أي نموذج للتغيير يرتكز؟
