تناول الباب الأول في الفصل الأول التعلم والتعليم المعاصرين، والفصل الثاني تعلم وتعليم اللغة ، والفصل الثالث تعلم وتعليم العربية. وتناول الباب الثاني المعارات اللغوية الأربع، فتناول الفصل الأول مهارة الاستماع، لأنها الوسيلة الوحيدة الأولى في اكتساب اللغة واستقبال أفكار الآخرين، وتناول الفصل الثاني مهارة القراءة لأنها الوسيلة الثانية في التواصل مع الناس ونقل ما لدينا إليهم، وتناول الفصل الرابع مهارة الكتابة فهي الوسيلة الثانية لنقل وتدوين أفكارنا.
