هذه موضوعات مختارة في النحو والصرف، وأخرى في المعاجم العربية وقواعد الكتابة وعلامات الترقيم، تعين الدارس في الجامعات والمؤسسات الأكاديمية والإدراية، على البقاء على صلة بالمهارات الأساسية للغة العربية، وتساعده في تجنّب الوقوع في الأخطاء اللغوية القرائية والكتابية. ومن المعاجم العربية تمّ اختيار معجمين اثنين، ينتمي أولّهما إلى مدرسة الصحاح للجوهري (وهو لسان العرب لابن منظور)، وينتسب الآخر إلى مدرسة أساس البلاغة للزمخشري (وهو المعجم الوسيط)، ذلك ليطّلع الدارس على طريقتين مخلفتين لاستخراج ألفاظ المعجم: طريقة قديمة وأخرى حديثة، وليقف على تطور استخدام المعاجم العربية. أما قواعد الكتابة فلما فشا الغلط فيها، وكثر الجهل بها، صار التذكير بها لازماً، ومعرفتها وإتقانها ضرورة. أما تجاهل علامات الترقيم عند جلّ الدارسين، فقد آل إلى أن يكتب الكاتب فقرات مطوّلة، من رسالة جامعية أو تقرير أو بحث، دون أن تجد واحدة من تلك العلامات، على امتداد الفقرة أو الفقرات، مما يجعل الكلام معمّى، وآخره موصولاً بأوّله، بطريقة عائمة، لا واضحة ولا مفهومة. وقد ألبس الموضوعات المختارة لباس الدراسة التطبيقية، التي تنأى بالدارس عن معالجة القواعد النظرية بوعورتها وجفافها، وتحبّبها إليه بالأمثلة الحية والتدريبات المنتقاة. ثم أتبع موضوعات الكتاب وتدريباته ستّة أنموذجات لأسئلة متنوعة، مع إجاباتها الصحيحة التي تثبّت القواعد، وتقيس قدرة الدارس على الاستيعاب والفهم، وتساعد في وَضْع ما استوعبه وفَهِمَه موضع التطبيق والاستخدام اللغوي اليومي.
