قد كان النصُّ المسموع هو المنهلَ الأولَ لقواعد العربية لغةً ونحواً وصرفاً، ومن تلك النصوص المسموعة الشعرُ الذي حظي بالنصيب الأوفر بعد القرآن الكريم، فكان أكثر ما رجع إليه النحاة، وأخذوا شواهدهم منه في وضع قواعد اللغة.
ومن تلك المؤلفات التي عنيت بجمع الشواهد وشرحها كتاب "شرح شواهد شرح قطر الندى وبل الصدى" لــ "صادق بن علي بن الحسين الأعرجي" (توفي في حدود 1150هـ).
وتبرز أهمية اختياري هذا الكتاب لدراسته وتحقيقه من خلال أمور كثيرة أوجزها في النقاط الآتية: 1-ما لشرح قطر الندى وبل الصدى من أهمية بالغة، بسبب ما رزقه الله - تعالى - من الشيوع والذيوع، ما دفع كثيراً من علماء العربية إلى شرحه وتلخيصه، 2-لشرح شواهد شرح قطر الندى وبل الصدى للأعرجي منهج يختلف عن منهج الشراح الآخرين، فهو مناقش، وشارح لعبارة ابن هشام وغيره من العلماء، فضلاً عن شرحه للشواهد النحوية، 3-ما ذكره الشارح صادق بن علي الأعرجي في مقدمة شرحه: "لمَّا كانَ كتابُ الإمام المحقق والتحرير المدققِ عبدِ الله بن محمدِ بن جمالِ الدينِ بن يوسفَ بنِ عبدِ اللهِ بن هشامِ الأنصاريِّ المسمى بشرح قطر الندى وبل الصدى، قد عمَّ نفعُهُ في سائرِ الأقطارِ، واشتهرَ اشتهارَ الشمسِ في رائعةِ النَّهارِ، لسهولةِ مأخذِهِ، وحسنِ ترتيبه، وغزارةِ نفعِهِ، وكانت شواهدُه الشعرية لا تخلو من غموضٍ في الجملةِ، ولم يقع لها شرحٌ شافٍ في حلِّ رموزها وبيان لغاتها، وإعرابها؛ أحببتُ أن أُعَلِّقَ عليها شرحاً يفي بذلك، ويسلُكُ بناظرِهِ أحسنَ المسالِكِ، مشيراً إلى بعضِ تسامحاتٍ تقعُ للفاضلِ الشيخ فتح الله بن علوان وللشيخ الفاضلِ محمود بن أحمد العيني صاحب "فرائد القلائد"، وأن ذكر بحر البيت وعروضه وضربه، وما فيه من الزحاف والعلل... وأنْ أضيفَ إلى ذلكَ بعض تحقيقاتٍ في العبارةِ، وأشيرَ إليها بعض الإشارة، 4-ولأنَّ عملي في دراسة هذا الكتاب وتحقيقه خدمةٌ لتراثنا العربي، وإحياءٌ لذخائره، 5-ومما حدى بي إلى تحقيق الكتاب كونه حاشية مهمة لشرح القطر فضلاً عن حاشيتي السجاعي، والألوسي، إلى غير ذلك.
