هذا كتاب سادس في "سلسلة كتب الخيل"، وهو للأًصمعيّ، يصدر محقّقاً على ثلاث نسخ، وكان قد طُبع قبل أكثر من مئة عام على نسخة واحدة، أخرجه للناس المستشرق هفنر عام 1895م؛ وأُعِيدَ طبعه ببغداد في مجلة كلية الآداب عام 1970م على نسخة المستشرق، وفي كلتا الطبعتين أخطاء كثيرة جاوزت المئة، كما سيأتي في ملاحظاه الكاتب على طبعة هفنر.
واليوم يصدر هذا الكتاب الذي عرض فيه الكاتب المواضيع التالية: "سند الكتاب"، "حمل الخيل"، "نتاج الخيل"، "أسنان الخيل"، "أَعضاء الخيل"، "باب ما يُستحبُّ في الخيل"، "باب ما يكرهُ من الخيل"، "العيوب في الحافر"، "صفة مشي الخيل وعَدوها"، "ومن ألَوان الخيل"، "ومن الشِّيات"، "الخيل المنسوبة"...
