Book Description
هذه مقتطفات من كتاب البخلاء، ألَّفه أبو عثمان عمرو بن بحر الجاحظ (255 هـ)، وهو من أئمة الأدب في العصر العباسي، ولد في البصرة، وتُوفِّي والده وهو صغير، فنشأ فقيراً يبيع الخبز والسمك في سيحان (نهيْر بالبصرة)، وكان ثَمَّةَ نتوءٌ واضحٌ في حدقتيه فسُمّي بالجاحظ.
جلس إلى علماء البصرة، وسمع من العرب الخُلَّص في المربد، وتردد إلى مجالس الأدباء يسمع لهم ويأخذ عنهم، وتوجه إلى بغداد، واتصل بشيوخ العلم وأئمة الأدب وعلماء اللغة، وجمع في ثقافته بين العربية وغيرها من الثقافات كالفارسية واليونانية والهندية، وكان يجيد من بينها الفارسية.
طلبه الخليفة المأمون وولاّه ديوان الرسائل، غير أنه استعفى بعد ثلاثة أيام، واتصل بابن الزيات؛ وزير الخليفة المعتصم، فلازمه وقدَّم له كتاب "الحيوان"، فأعطاه خمسة آلاف دينار.
أما كتاب "البخلاء" فهو رصدٌ ناقدٌ لأحوال طائفةٍ إجتماعيةٍ من الناس، اتصفت بالبخل، ولا نكاد نعرف في زمنه من قام بوصفهم مثله؛ دِقَّةً، وطرفةً، وبياناً، فلقد وقف على أخبارهم، وعرض أحوالهم وطرقهم في الحرص، وقدَّم صورة نفسية كاشفة لهم.
سَرَد الجاحظ في كتابه نوادر البخلاء؛ ولا سيما من أهل خراسان ومرو، ثم عرّج على نوادر أهل البصرة، فضلاً عن قصص من ذاع صيتهم في البخل.
وتتجلى أهمية الكتاب في أنه شخّص بعض أسباب البخل في زمانه؛ ذلك أن كثيراً من البخلاء في عصره كانوا فقراء في الأصل، ثم اغتنوا وبنوا مجدهم على المال، غير أنهم لم ينسوا أيامهم السالفة.
ويحوي الكتاب بذوراً لفنون لاحقة عليه؛ كفنَّ الكاريكاتير، كما ان فيه بذوراً مسرحية يمكن إستثمارها بسهولة.
