قام المؤلف في تأليف كتاب حياة "الإمام كاشف الغطاء" إستجابةً لطلب المجمع العالمي للتقريب بين المذاهب الإسلاميّة، وجعله ضمن فصول تتمحور حولها أهمّ مميّزات ومراحل حياة الشيخ.
فقد ذكر نسبه وشيئاً عن أُسرته في الفصل الأوّل، وتناول الفصل الثاني أساتذته تلامذته وإجازاته العلميّة، وسرد في الفصل الثالث قبساً من سيرته الشريفة، وضمّ الرابع الكلام عن علمه وأدبه الرفيع، أمّا الخامس فيتحدّث عن مواقفه السياسيّة والإصلاحيّة، والسادس من الفصول يحتوي على ذكر جهوده التقريبيّة والوحدويّة، ويستعرض الفصل السابع مؤلّفاته وآثاره، أمّا الثامن - وهو الفصل الذي يُختتم به الكتاب - فقد ضمّ ملابسات وفاته وما قيل من الكلمات في شخصه.
