وهذا يعني انه يسعى إلى قراءة الشعر الجاهلي بعيون مشرقية وأخرى أندلسية مغربية، من حيث المستوى اللغوي والنحوي والمستوى الذوقي والفني والمستوى الأدبي والنقدي، علماً أن هذا الإتجاه جديد في الدراسات اللغوية والأدبية الحديثة.
وقد أثبت هذا الكتاب، بما يتضمنه من توجه أدبي ونقدي وفني وعلمي مشروع أهميته التي تجعله بالإمكان إدراجه ضمن الدراسات الأدبية والنقدية المعاصرة التي اشتهرت في المجال الثقافي العربي، من خلال العلاقة الجدلية القائمة بين الشعر والشرح من جهة وبين الشاعر والشارح من جهة ثانية.
