إميل بديع يعقوب باحث في علوم اللغة العربية ومحقق معاصر له العديد من الشروح والتعليقات على كثير من أمهات الكتب في اللغة العربية كشرح شذور الذهب لابن هشام الأنصاري حيث قدم للكتاب ووضع هوامشه وفهارسه. بالإضافة إلى المعجم المفصل في الشواهد العربية وهو كتاب نافع مشهور, بالإضافة إلى العديد من الكتب في الخط العربي والعديد من الكتب المحققة.
أعماله
ولد في كفرعقا قضاء الكورة محافظة لبنان الشمالي في 27/11/1950. درس في مدرسة بلدته وتخرج من دار المعلمين في طرابلس. عين مدرسا في التعليم الابتدائي. نال شهادة الدكتورة في اللغة العربية وآدابها سنة 1980 من جامعة القديس بوسف في بيروت. التحق للتدريس في كلية الآداب في الجامعة اللبنانية. في السنة 1990 نال دكتورة أخرى من الجامعة اللبنانية. وهو حاليا استاذ العلوم اللغوية في كلية الآداب في طرابلس والدراسات العليا في بيروت, ورئيس قسم اللغة العربية في كلية الآداب في الجامعة البنانية (افرع الثالث).

أرجو، أخي القارئ، أن تعجبك هذه الباقة من الأشعار التي اخترتها لك، داعياً إيّاك إلى إرتياد المنابع الأصلية، أعني دواوين الشعراء أنفسهم، فباقة الأزهار مهما كانت جميلة مُتقنة الإختيار، لا تُمثّل البساتين التي قطفت منها، وتبقى النزهة في هذه البساتين، وقطف ما تراه جميلاً رائعاً من أزهارها، والتلذّذ بثمارها، هي الأروع والأمتع.
وسميتُ كتابي هذا معجم لالئ الشعر - أجمل الأبيات وأشهرها - علماً بأن "الشهرة" و"الجمال" يكاد أن يكونا مترادفين في عالم الأدب، فكل بيت مشهور جميل، ومعظم الأبيات الشعرية الجميلة مشهورة.
ومعايير "الشهرة" كثيرة، منها كثرة التمثّل بالبيت، أو ترداده على أفواه الناس، أو في الكتب الأدبيّة، أو نصّ العلماء على شهرته.
أما معايير "الجمال" فأهمّها جودة المعنى، ونقاء العبارة، وجودة الأسلوب، وسهولة اللفظ، فقد جهدنا كي نثبت أشهر وأجمل ما في الأدب العربي، مع العلم أن الشعر المشهور أو الجميل الذي قاله العرب يلزمه مجلدات كثيرة لجمعه.
