يقول الطبيب والمعلم الكبير لازاريف: عندما ترفض الحب ونبتعد عن مرضاة الله تعالى، وعندما ننسى أن السعادة الحقيقية أكبر بكثير من مجرد تحقيق الشهوات وملذات الحياة، وعندما يصبح مصدر السعادة الأول بالنسبة لنا ليس الخالق، بل العالم المحيط بنا، عندها لا يوجد حاجزٌ أمام تحقيق المزيد من المتع والشهوات الحياتية، إن تحقيق الرغبات والمتع، والسعي وراء السعادة، هو أمر جيد جداً، شرط أن لا يلحق ذلك أي أذى بالمحبة، بهدف إنقاذ الحب من الواجب أن نكبح جماح أنفسنا.
إذا اتجهنا إلى عبادة شتى أنواع الملذات، وإذا كانت السعادة تنحصر بعشق الحبيب، أو بالإنغماس التام بالعمل، أو السعي وراء الشهوات والملذات؛ هذا كله يؤدي إلى تدمير الصلة مع الخالق وإلى إنعدام المحبة، وهذا له تأثيره المدمر على الروح.
سألت أمٌ المعلم لازاريف كيف يمكن لها أن تنقذ طفلها من مرضه العضال فأجابها: المهم أن لا تضعي هدفاً أمامك يكمن في إنقاذ طفلك من المرض، لأن ذلك يعني في اللاوعي عبادة المستقبل، أما إذا كان الهدف من العبادة والصلاة بالنسبة إليكم هو شفاء الطفل، فهذا يعد نوعاً من أنواع السحر.
إن الهدف الأهم يكمن في التأثير على روح الطفل وغرس المحبة والتقرب من الله تعالى، إذا عادت الحياة إلى الروح، فإن الطفل سوف يشفى.
مرة أخرى أريد أن أؤكد: السعادة والصحة هي منتجات ثانوية، إن السعادة الحقيقية تكمن في التقرب من الخالق.
