إن العبور الحضاري للنصوص منهج اصطنعه المؤلف للتعامل مع النصوص مثل التعامل مع المُعطياتُ الحضارية، والرؤى الثقافية، وهو منهج لُحْمَتُهُ الدراسة الأسلوبية تستنطق النص الأدبي كوامن أحاسيس الشاعر أو الناثر المنبثة فيه من خلال ما تحدث به دلالات الألفاظ، وموحيات التراكيب، ومن خلال ما يحدث به النمو الداخلي للنص، ومعماره الفني، وترابط هواديه وأعجازه: وسداه الحساسية الجمالية التي تمكن المتذوق من الإقتراب من النص، والتعرف إلى نسيجه اللغوي، ونبض الحياة فيه، وإستخراج ما يزخر به من إيماءات، وإيحاءات، وظلالٍ، وألوانٍ، وأصواتٍ، والنظر إلى هذه العناصر متوحدة تارة، ومتحدة أخرى، مؤتلفة مرَّةً، ومختلفة أخرى، ومن زوايا متعددة، وقرائن متنوعة، يعني الشاعر المُبدع أولاً، وبعيني جمهور الشاعر ثانياً، وبعيني الجيل المعاصر من أهل القرن الخامس عشر الهجري ثالثاً.
وقد استخدم المؤلف هذا المنهج في هذه الدراسة النقدية الإبداعية للأمية العرب للشنفري معتمداً على شرح الإمام أبي العباس المبرد ويشرح الدكتور محمد بديع شرف المؤسوم بــ"نشيد الصحراء" ومؤلف الأستاذ فؤاد أفراد البستاني في الموسوم بــ"الروائع".
هذا، وقد قسمت الدراسة - بعد إستكمال المقدمة والقصيدة - في سبعة أبواب، خصص الباب الأول بإمتزاج مناظر الطبيعة بأحساسيس الشاعر، والباب الثاني بالمضامين الثقافية التي علم عليها الشنفرى في لاميته، والثالث بخصائص الشعر الجاهلي وعصر صدر الإسلام كما تبدو من خلال لامية العرب وقصيدة "بانت سعاد" والرابع بالحديث عن خصائص الشعر الجاهلي والإسلامي في "لامية العرب" و"بانت سعاد" على ضوء مقاييس عمود الشعر، كما أوردها أبو علي المرزوقي (ت421هـ)، والخامس لعروض اللامية والسادس لإعراب اللامية، وختم السابع بإستلهام الشعراء اللاحقين للاميَّة.
