ويظهر أننا كنا على مدى ما يقارب نصف سنة أو أكثر قد نعمنا بأيام هادئة وآمنة، فغفلنا عما يدبّر لنا لهذا اليوم الشاذ. وكانت سهراتنا لا تخلوا من تناول المتقاتلين بالقفش والتنكيت أحياناً. والمضحك أن كل جماعة منا كانت تشير إلى المتقاتلين من ناحيتها بكلمة "شبابنا" دون أن يعني ذلك أي معنى انتمائى خارج عن جغرافية الحي...
وقد نخترق السقف المسموح به بضحكة تنطلق ويصل صداها إلى مجال الساتر أو ذاك.. وإذا ما صدف أن نهرنا أحد المسلحين أو أمرنا بالكف عما نحن فيه فقد كنا ننكفئ إلى الداخل بنفس راضية وتسليم دون أي تعليق على الرغم من الصفات غير المستحبة التي كان ينعتنا بها من مثل: يا فئران أو يا كلاب... وأحياناً يا أولاد الكذ ومذا...
