ليس سوى الناذر نفسه لخدمة الحقيقة التي يؤمن بها ويتخذها قضية حياته، ليس إلاّه يقف منابذاً لما ساد من أفكار فرضتها السلطات السائدة تبريراً لطغيانها واستبدادها واستمرارها في ضبط إيقاعات الجموع المحتشدة تحت وطأتها.
وترانا لا نفعل سوى أننا ندفع باباً مفتوحاً بالقول إن العلامة السيد حسن الأمين كان واحداً من أولئك القلائل الذين نذروا أنفسهم لدرء مخاطر السموم التي نفثها خدّام السلاطين، فوقف منافحاً ومكافحاً لكل تلك التشويهات التي شاءت لوي عنق الحقيقة، هاجسه تنقية التاريخ من تلك الدسائس التي بنى عليها كثيرون فاعتبروها مسلمات غير قابلة للنقاش. فتصدى "السيد الأمين" لكل ذاك الزيف ناقضاً له باعتماده على أدوات معرفية علمية قائمة على الإسناد الموثق مستوفية لكل شروط البحث العلمي، فجعلنا نطل على فضاء آخر لتاريخنا غير ذلك الذي فرضته السلطات الاستبدادية، وشاءت أن تلطخ به تاريخ الأمة.
من الحيف حصر عطاءات "السيد" بموضوع التاريخ، فهو عبر مسيرته الفكرية، التي امتدت زهاء قرن عاشها في عمق الزمان وامتداده، وعبر امتدادات المكان ورحابته، فأنتجت عالماً مفكراً ذا عمق معرفي موسوعي ندر نظيره.
في هذا الكتاب المتواضع، الذي يروي فيه "السيد الأمين" سيرته عبر الأستاذ الأديب المدقق جلال شريم، نكتشف جانباً من عظمة الخالق الذي أنعم على "السيد" بهذا القدر من الجَلَد على منابذة الباطل والتدقيق في البحث، وبالقدرة على الربط والضبط وبالنباهة في الملاحظة، والسلاسة في التحليل والاستنتاج، وبهذا القدر من الزهد بكل مباهج الحياة إزاء كلمة حق تقال في وجه سلطان جائر.
نسأل المولى أن نكون وفقنا في الوفاء لهذا الرجل العظيم، وأن نكون لامسنا تقديره حق قدره. والله ولي التوفيق.
