ويتساءل المؤلف في هذا الكتاب إلى أي حد تتطابق المبادئ الأساسية التي وضعها العهد السقراطي مع تباشير العولمة التي تجتاح العالم، والتي تعدنا بمستقبل أفضل للبشرية وبفردوس أرضي جديد؟ هل العودة إلى حب السلطة واللذة والمال هي الأفضل لحكم الشعوب ولسياستها في القرن الحادي والعشرين؟ وهل تقود العولمة إلى الحوار أم هي تغذي صدام الحضارات؟
