يوميات عن رحلات من العراق إلى دمشق فبيروت فالإسكندرية فالقاهرة، فمدن المغرب العربي، مروراً بإسطنبول وطهران وصولاً إلى مدن أوروبا؛ باريس ولندن وبرلين وغيرها من عواصم العوالم ومدنه الزاهرة، وخلال رحلاتها تبدو الكاتبة ميالة إلى وصف يبعث في الأشياء أنوارها الخفية، ويستكشف فيها أبعادها اللامرئية، فتنطق الأمكنة بما تكتنزه من أسرار، وتحدث بها لا تبوح به من أسرار الجمال إلا لعاشق خبير بالجمال وعاشق للمعرفة.
من هنا، نجد الكاتبة تستنطق في المدينة وعند كل زاوية منها زمناً من أزمنتها، وصوتاً من أصواتها، وعلماً من أعلامها، ومبدعاً من مبدعيها، حتى لتصبح الأمكنة مقرونة بالفن والأدب أكثر منها مقرونة بصناعات أهل السياسة والسيطرة والنجاحات الزائفة.
فالجمال هو الحاكم في مدن هذه اليوميات، فها هن نساء دمشق في نظرها أميرات وملكات أنوثة وثقافة وجمال في كل ما يصدر عنهن، وها هي الموسيقى في زواج فيغارو توهج الرحلة في بوادبست، وتطلق في نفس الكاتبة مكنوناتها، الغامضة وجمالها الآسر، وها هي السوناتات الشيكسبيرية تقود الكاتبة إلى غرفة نوم الشاعر لترى سريره صغيراً أشبه بسرير طفل، وتتداعى إلى مخيلتها وذاكرتها وهي ترى النيل صور دجلة، لكنها تستحضر صوراً للقاهرة في الأدب.
يوميات بارعة تعكس ثقافة صاحبتها وذوقها الأدبي الرفيع وشغفها الخاص بالأمكنة، استحقت عنها جائزة ابن بطوطة للرحلة المعاصرة.
