لقد تضمّن هذا المرجع معلومات أساسية وإطاراً عاماً لفهم مادة المنهج، ومقترحات تربوية تعين على فهم الأبعاد التّربوية لمناهج التّربية الإسلامية للمرحلة الأساس وعلى كيفية التعامل معها وتطويرها وإستخدام الأساليب المناسبة لتدريسها والإشراف عليها ومتابعتها.
وقد تم تنظيم هذا المرجع ليقدم المعلومة الدينية والتّربوية من ناحية، وليأخذ بيد القارئ ليطبِّقها في الميدان من ناحية أخرى، تضمّن هذا الكتاب مقدمة وسبعة فصول، نُظِّم كل فصلٍ منها ليحتوي على: مقدمة قصيرة تكون مَدخلاً إليه، ثمِّ الأهداف المُتوخاة من الفصل، والتّي يمكن تحقيقها عند القارئ، كما تضمِّن المعلومات النّظرية والتّطبيقية لكل فصل، وقد عالج المؤلفون المادة التي عُرضت في الكتاب بأساليب متنوعة متكاملة، وكان من ضمنها طرح السّؤال ثمّ الإجابة عليه، أو طرحه وترك الإجابة عليه لخبرة القارئ وتنمية التفكير عنده، ومدى تفاعله مع المادة وأساليب تدريسها، بالإضافة إلى مجموعة من الأنشطة الإثرائية والختامية، واختتم كل فصل بخلاصة ما تضمّنه، وبتقويم وأنشطة ختامية تأخذ بيد القارئ للبحث والتنقيب، ليقلِّب المسألة من وجهات نظر متّعددة، ثمَّ ورد في نهاية الكتاب مجموعة المراجع التّي نأمل أن نخدم القارئ في الإجابة عن تساؤلاته.
وقد جاءت فصول هذا الكتاب للإجابة عن إستفسارات وتساؤلات حول مفهوم منهاج التّربية الإسلامية وأساليب تدريسه ليكون كتاباً ودليلاً علمياً وتربوياً للقارئ من ناحية، وليعرض خبرات ومقترحات متنوعة تفيد في توسيع آفاق النِّظر والتًّفكير والتَّطبيق في تدريس التربية الإسلامية وتحقيقها.
