ويعد التعليم من الإستثمارات غير المنظورة، تظهر آثاره بعد حين، وإن بدا خدمياً محضاً لغير المدقق، ويمكن الإستدلال عليها من خلال تحسن المخرجات النهائية للتعليم وتوظيف المعرفة في الحياة، ورفد السوق المحلية بحاجتها من الخبرات التي تحتاجها وبالتالي يرتفع الناتج الوطني.
فكان من البديهي أن تخصص الدول قسطاً وافراً من مواردها المالية لدعم قطاع التعليم لإعداد البرامج المعبرة عن طموحات الأمة وتوقعاتها من عملية التعليم، وأن يجري تحويل هذه البرامج في صورة وثائق مطبوعة يجري تداولها من قبل الفئة المستهدفة بها؛ من معلمين ومتعلمين وكل من له صلة بعملية التعليم، وأن تجري عمليات مراجعة دائمة لهذه الوثائق للإطمئنان على توافر القدر اللازم من المعرفة والخبرة التربوية المطلوبة، وأن يجري تطويرها بين الفينة والفينة من قبل مختصين، وأن يتم إدخال التعديلات المطلوبة لتحقيق الأهداف والنتاجات المقصودة، وخير الأدوات المحققة لهذه الغايات هي أدوات التحليل على إختلاف أنواعها وتعدد إستخداماتها، فتحليل المناهج والكتب المدرسية مهم جداً.
ومما يميز هذا الكتاب عن غيره من كتب التحليل الآتي: "تناوله لكتب العلوم الإنسانية تناولاً مباشراً، وبخاصة مواد كل من اللغة العربية والتربية الإسلامية والإجتماعات"، "شموله على معايير ومؤشرات مقترحة لتحليل المحتوى وأخرى معتمدة"، "وجود نماذج تطبيقية متنوعة لتحليل محتوى كتب مدرسية، وأخرى لنماذج لأدوات التحليل، وبناء خطط عليها؛ فصلية ويومية ومواقف تعليمية"، "إجراء مقارنات بين موضوعات تحتاج إلى مقارنة"، "تنوع الأشكال التوضيحية لتقريب المفاهيم والموضوعات المهمة".
